Mullaperiyar: An unknown story

Sharing the thoughts of what has been happening around noticed by some and ignored by many , the Mullaperiyar Dam issue :

For those idiots who still think
"Mullaperiyar" issue is a regional one,
For those idiots who wont see
anything even it is visible, For those
idiots who doesnt have any sentiments
even for themselves, For those
idiots, who are not meant to be a
human... ... What will happen to Kerala
and South India if Mullaperiyar Dam
breaks?
1) Under water sea cable for internet
connectivity connects India to rest of
the world , thats only in Cochin. If
Cochin Goes Down, South Indian IT
Hub will come to a stand still. All the
gateway CISCO routers , switches etc in
Kakkanad will float in Arabian Ocean. IP
packets from Bangalore, chennai etc
will not cross the ocea.. .n... ....
2) Cochin Refineries - Which refines
petroleum products and services most
of South India. If it is washed away,
TamilNadu, Karnataka and Andhra has
to find much more expensive options
for Petroleum Refineries.
3) Kerala will be in complete darkness
for ages, no TV, no Internet, no Mobile
towers, once the Idukki hydro electric
power plant is washed away, resulting
from Mullaperiyar collapse.
4) Kerala... will be divided into 2 lands,
impacting geography of India, and
washing away an area of vast bio
diversity, along with 30 lakh people.
Serving rest of the people with food
and other stuffs will be an extremely
tedious task.
5) Port City of Cochin, will not be in
world map anymore. Vallarpadam port
will be a history, all of South India has
to again depend on Colombo for
Mother ships , a very expensive option.
6) Tamil Nadu will not get water for
irrigation or drinking anymore, as
stored water in Mullaperiyar dam will
flow to the ocean, when the dam
collapses.
7) Along its course, the water current
will wash Idukki Dam, and many many
Industries , Factories, IT Parks,
Hospitals, Ports, Cochin City, temples,
mosques, churches etc etc to the
Arabian Ocean.
8) A disaster 180 times terrific than
Hiroshima. This is not exaggeration.
Spread this, my friends. Information is
power. Kerala as well as Tamil Nadu
are stakeholders in this issue.
More than us, its normal Tamil people
(excluding power-hung ry politicians)
who need such info. We need our
brothers and sisters across the border
to pressurize their own politicians to
consider this as a humanitarian crisis,
rather than an inter-stat e dispute.

To make matters worse , see what another friend had shared :

Just saw the news, where a tamil media activist was talking about the mullaperiar issue. From his talk, the attitude of the so called "educated class" of the tamilians was quite evident. He was quoting examples of some other dams which were more than 100 years old, and saying that these examples gave them the confidence that the mullaperiar dam would'nt burst!! Then he went on to say that the dam with the water height of 136, had a total water capacity of only 10 TMC and that the idukki dam could easily withstand that.He gave no concern to the lives of thousands living in the 30 Km area between mullaperiar and idukki, and was just saying that the keralites concern about the lives of 36 lakhs people was not justified!!!!!!!!!!In his view point the mullaperiar dam has been well maintained!!They hold onto this belief of theirs and dont even care about the reports given by the specialists in this field......

If this is the atitude taken by the people who should let the common man know the true facts behind this dam issue, how can we expect the common man to understand!!!In their view point, this might be just a trick of the keralites to stop giving their share of water... My dear tamil brothers and sisters, you can have all the water you want, we are asking only for our lives safety. Whether it be 1 or thousands or lakhs, its the life of a human beings that you are playing with. When you are taking this attitude, please remember that there are a few tamilians also living in the valley area of mullaperiar. If you are so confident about the status of mullaperiar dam, please have the courage to come and live in that area. Please have a consideration for the fear and concern for lives and livelihood of the keralites.

So what are they actually upto?? playing with the lives of millions of people. Are they waiting for a disaster to occur and then after it happens give money to the families of the deceased as consolation?? Can money ever bring back lives of the loved ones? Or is it that the politicians have no value because the people living there dont matter to them at all? What if their kids were living downstream? Talking wont help anymore, someone has to take action, one individual cant change anything nor can a hartal or strike. We need serious action, and someone who really can make a difference should step forward. Why is it that people are least bothered about this ? Just cause you have none you know over there doesnt mean that those people aint like you , even they have loved ones and families. And with all these rains and quakes happening around, the time to act to narrowing down. React before its too late. It could happen to you one day.
